Layout Matrix

The newly produced Matrix layout facilitates the organisation of entities on an Analyst chart, allowing for quick identification of the types of entities represented, whether selected by the user or the result of one of the analysis steps.

The Matrix layout was designed by S&A to reorder isolated icons in the form of a rectangular matrix. The algorithm implemented in Matrix is optimised for clustering icons according to their type and style. This layout, like Traffic Jam Layout, is also available as a free add-on for Analyst’s Notebook (version 6 or higher). The Matrix layout is very useful for organising search results that are presented as a collection of entities without relationships. A very usual situation. In this case, Analyst’s Notebook automatically represents the icons in a linear fashion, placing them all on a single line, and as the number of displayed icons increases, the diagram quickly becomes unreadable.

Layout Matrix selects the entities by type, arranges them in columns side by side, and when one column reaches its maximum length, a new one begins. The typical appearance of the diagram is that of a matrix with columns of different lengths but with entities of the same type.

Layout Traffic Jam

The Traffic Jam layout allows related elements to be visualised on an Analyst’s Notebook chart, maintaining emphasis on both the relationships that emerge and the time axis, combining the two analytical cores to offer greater completeness in the analysis of complex events.

The Traffic Jam layout was developed by S&A to optimise those time diagrams where the many theme lines and links do not make the scenario easy to read.

Traffic Jam was originally developed for TETRAS, S&A’s telephone traffic analysis product, and is now available as a free plug-in to i2‘s Analyst’s Notebook (version 6 or higher). Ready to simplify any time chart representing transactions.
